Introverts can get an unfair rap. They are often considered to be shy, unfriendly, or even cold. Just because a person isn’t the life of the party or loves to be the center of attention, it doesn’t mean they are not happy as they are and don’t care about others.
As Psychology Today notes, “Introverts can be warm, interested in others, and powerful in their own right.” Not everyone is meant to be the star of the show or even have the desire to go see one, for that matter.
Do you think you’re an introvert? These 3 signs may just give you a clue if you are a well-adjusted introvert or something closer to a hermit.
1. Crowds freak you out
Most introverts steer clear of crowded places. There’s little chance of finding personal space and the noise, energy, and lack of control can be upsetting. As per Lifehack, “Concerts, rallies, conferences, sports arenas: these can all be very uncomfortable places for an introvert.”
While being an introvert may make you stand out from the crowd, you’ll likely never be in the midst of one to find out if it’s really true.
2. You’re a planner
The unknown factor of living life in the moment may sound exciting to the average Joe and especially to an extrovert, but according to Lifehack, “You probably plan things out so that everything runs smoothly and with no issues.”
Do you pack your lunch the night before, write up itineraries for every trip, and map out the best route for your errands so you don’t get stuck in traffic? Yes, these all may be sensible ideas, but they don’t leave much room for change – just what an introvert is aiming for.
3. Your best friend or partner is an extrovert
While you may be somewhat closed-off and relish in the routine, you’ll likely find yourself attracted to extroverts. As per Huffington Post, “It’s true that opposites attract, and introverts frequently gravitate towards outgoing extroverts who encourage them to have fun and not take themselves too seriously.”
There’s a “yin” for every “yang.” Even an introvert needs balance in their lives and an outgoing partner or friend is just the right fit.
