These House Plants Are Least Likely to Die

I’ve killed every plant I’ve ever had. Most of them never had a chance to live because I knew nothing about plants, I’m forgetful, and I’d stop feeding and watering them after the third day (and that’s if I was really trying). If that sounds like you, then you need to invest in a durable plant that has a higher chance of survival indoors.

Peace Lily

Peace Lilies are the best fit for rooms with few or no windows. This species prefers low light and can withstand heat up to 85 degrees. The long-stemmed plant with white curving blooms will also add some refreshing green color to your living space.

Aloe

Yes Aloe, as in aloe vera. The plant can be used for its natural properties to soothe skin or for a nice added touch in your home! The plant only needs to be watered once a week and thrives in 70 degree heat. It’s also best to put a couple of ice cubes at the top of the soil, once a week.

Fiddle-Leaf Fig Tree

This ficus offspring is a great statement plant to bring a little nature into your home, but without a lot of work. Expose it to bright to medium light in 65-75 degree temperatures, and it’ll thrive.

Jade

For those succulent fans, a Jade plant will offer the look of thick leaves and the benefit of little care. Place one in room temperature, close to bright light, and it can survive for years!

Philodendron

Philodendron’s long, heart-shaped leaves, will look perfect hanging over your stacked bookshelf or cascading down your mantle. You can place this perfect houseplant just about anywhere as it can thrive in most temperatures and in most light.

Barrel Cactus

These pretty little guys are the greatest survivors, only needing to be watered every other month for the entirety of its long, pint-sized life. Treat them well in room temperature, and don’t touch them for your own safety!

Juniper Bonsai

Juniper plants come in over 700 variations, some of which can live as mini, gorgeous trees right in your home! They give off a wonderful scent, are durable, and only need low to medium light—what’s not to like!
