Sydney Sweeney doesn’t currently have a baby on the way, but that doesn’t mean the idea isn’t on her radar. She’s been engaged to marry her fiancé, Jonathon Davino, since 2022. But wedding bells aren’t exactly ringing anytime soon. Sydney has been mum about when the couple will officially make it down the aisle.

She has spoken up about her desire to experience motherhood, though. What’s the thing that’s held her back so far? She didn’t want to throw a wrench into her Hollywood career at a young age. Interestingly enough, Kylie Jenner did exactly that when she announced her pregnancy — at 20 years old mind you — way back in 2018.

Some would argue that Kylie’s career didn’t take a hit. Others claim Kylie’s pregnancies were beyond problematic for her celebrity success-journey. So… does Sydney have any reason to worry about a pregnancy of her own?

Sydney’s Desire to Be a Young Mom in Hollywood

Sydney opened up about her deep-rooted desire to have babies in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter

She said, “I want to have a family. I’ve always wanted to be a young mom, and I’m worried about how this industry puts stigmas on young women who have children and looks at them in a different light. I was worried that, if I didn’t work, there would be no money and no support for kids I would have.”

As of now, Sydney is 27 years old — the average age to start having kiddos. Many would argue that being a “young mom” entails having your first kid before turning 25.

Kylie was only 20 when she gave birth to her first daughter, Stormi. The world was completely blown away by it. She went on to have another baby named Aire when she was 24. Kylie has certainly made motherhood look like an easy, breezy experience. But did it negatively impact her time in the spotlight?

Fans Remain Divided Over Kylie Being a Young Mom

Since Kylie is a public figure, the world has freely flexed their opinions about the way motherhood has changed her life and career. As of now, it seems fans are completely divided by the topic.

Some believe that having kids elevated Kylie‘s image by helping her come across as sweeter, nurturing, and more relatable. Others feel like it butchered the momentum she was riding during her social media era, the rise of Kylie Cosmetics brand, and her reality TV superstardom.

Let’s look at the facts: Kylie may no longer consistently post on Snapchat the way she did during her “King Kylie” era — but she still has more than 394 million followers on Instagram. Before having kids, Kylie’s net worth was slowly growing, but since then, her net worth has been roared to $710 million, according to Forbes

Before her pregnancies, Kylie was known for her appearances on her family’s hit reality TV show The Kardashians — which was recently renewed for Seasons 6 and 7. Season 6th just premiered on Hulu on Feb 6th and is sure to feature more Kylie scenes.

Many concerns Kylie’s fans had about motherhood derailing her career haven’t come to fruition. But does that sentiment apply to Sydney? Odds are, she would’ve hit tougher roadblocks than Kylie if she got pregnant before turning 25.

Being a Young Mom in Hollywood (Likely) Would’ve Been Harder For Sydney Sweeney

One of the biggest differences between Sydney and Kylie is that Sydney has a front-facing career as an actress. Showing up to shoot movies and TV shows with a pregnant belly wouldn’t have worked for her between the ages of 18 and 25.

That’s when she was busy filming projects like The White Lotus, The Handmaid‘s Tale, and Euphoria. For Kylie, it was a bit easier to handle since she’s never worked as an actress with obligations to appear on camera for specific roles.

Kylie didn’t fall off the face of the Earth in order to have her first child since she earns the bulk of her money in cosmetic sales. She doesn’t have to physically show up anywhere for people to buy her lip kits online.

At the time, Kylie controlled what she posted on social media to keep her baby bump under wraps. She also opted out of reality TV filming responsibilities since her family supported her choice to protect her privacy during her pregnancy.

It’s different for Sydney. Whenever the Immaculate actress decides to have her first kid, producers will have to incorporate her pregnancy into their scripts — or give her time off to fully experience her maternal journey.
