The springtime is a wonderful season. It’s full of possibilities, new beginnings, and fresh starts. As the flowers begin to bloom and your garden starts to sprout (figuratively or literally), you may start to feel a yearning to clean, get outdoors, and try something new. Spring is full of new possibilities for you and your environment, so here are some of the best ways to join the season.
Get Outside More
During the spring, it’s really common to feel a draw to the outdoors. The sun is out, things are green again, and you just want to feel the refreshing air. In some regions, springtime is warm enough to enjoy, but in other places it might still be a tad chilly for shorts and sun bathing. Don’t let that stop you! Get out there. Take advantage of your outdoor space and make your patio look and feel luxurious for yourself, or try exploring your neighborhood. Here are some other outdoor activities you can do in the spring:
- Eat a meal a day on your patio, balcony, or outdoor space.
- Find a local park and walk to it.
- Go on a jog.
- Visit a dog park and make new friends (fluffy and human!)
- Move your workout outside (try outdoor yoga, running, etc).
Plant Something
Planting something can make you feel accomplished and will give yourself a fun spring activity to look forward to. No yard? No problem! Get a pot and plant something inside. If you’re starting from a seed, which is recommended, then you don’t need a huge garden space, just a small pot with a drainage hole.
Pick something you’d like to grow. It could be a flower, a vegetable, an herb — anything! Seeing your little seed sprout and turn into a beautiful plant always brings a sense of accomplishment and new beginnings.
Eat Seasonal Foods
If planting or outdoor time isn’t quite your style, there are still some great ways to enjoy the spring season. Try mixing some in-season foods into your diet. Here are some spring foods to try before the season comes to a close:
- Swiss chard
- Asparagus
- Carrots
- Apples
- Apricots
- Avocados
- Celery
- Collard greens
- Kiwifruit
- Lemons
- Pineapples
- Spinach
- Rhubarb
- Strawberries
- Turnips
These are some of the best ways to enjoy the spring even when it’s a bit chilly outside. Summer is rapidly approaching, so get out there and enjoy the mild weather while you still can.
