To me, there are three main components to a fashionable look: your makeup, your hair, and your outfit. No celebrity goes on a red carpet without all three heavily curated to their personal style. Think: Margot Robbie’s Barbie looks modeled after different versions of the doll. Or Zendaya’s red hair homage to the original Mary Jane’s in Spiderman.

Since we live in the midst of hater culture, we all find the need to critique these curated red-carpet outfits and street styles from our sweatsuits on the couch. I’m no different. Growing up, some of my favorite magazine columns were “Who Wore It Best?” And I was weaned watching Joan Rivers eating up the looks of poor celebrities for her pre-show appetizer.

One thing I always hate on: if the hair and makeup don’t complete the look. While gowns are gorgeous — and style icons like Jacob Elordi, Sofia Richie, and Bella Hadid are all breaking the internet with every new outfit — your hair and makeup are almost as important. It’s an underrated way to say, “Sure, I can dress well, but my makeup tells a story, too.”

Surprisingly, no (or minimal) makeup sometimes says more than a full face. A perfect example was Hunter Schafer presenting at the Golden Globes this year, in an ethereal white gown paired with minimalist hair and makeup. Or Pamela Anderson’s recent makeup-free look.

But since most of us aren’t Pamela Anderson, we make so with makeup. Celebrities dictate our beauty trends just as much as fashion. After we saw Ayo Edebiri hug Jeremy Allen White and leave no makeup on his crisp white button-down, the Benefit Porefessional Setting Spray immediately sold out. Hailey Bieber says wore the Kosas Revealer Concealer, and now so do we. Beyonce and Taylor Swift performed full concerts without their makeup budging, even in the rain, selling out products like the One/Size’s On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray.

This is why brands send products to celebrities and makeup artists alike, hoping to get that coveted celebrity endorsement. Jessica Chastain debuted Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Blush Wands. Meanwhile, Rihanna and Selena Gomez wear their respective brands. And Madison Beer just posted using Hourglass Phantom Glossy Balms.

If you want a makeup routine that is red-carpet-worthy and celebrity-approved, the good news is that most makeup artists shop at Sephora. So not only is a full face accessible, but you may already have some of these items in your makeup bag.

Here are our picks for makeup that your favorite celebrities use:

For A Camila Morrone Worthy Look- NARS

Celebrity makeup artist Mary Phillips is the CEO of the underpainting method, a recent TikTok trend that involves using bronzer and concealer before foundation and using the lightest amount to blend it all in. She recently worked with Daisy Jones & The Six star (and former girlfriend of Leonardo DiCaprio), Camila Morrone, for the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.

She used a full face of NARS, which is a tried-and-true for MUAs and makeup lovers alike. The Creamy Matte Concealer is one of my favorites, a full-coverage dream. If you want Mary Phillips’ NARS go-to’s, here they are:

For Lips Like EmRata and Madison Beer- Hourglass

If you open my purse, you’ll see about eight different lip combinations: a liner here, a lipstick there, a gloss (or six). #lipcombination has over 5 million views on TikTok because everyone is in search for the ultimate “your lips but better” look.

Thankfully, Hourglass has perfected the lip combo of your dreams. With their new Phantom Glossy Balm shades and Shape + Sculpt Liner, you won’t want to use anything else…especially when Emily Ratajkowski and Madison Beer have given their stamp of approval.
