I feel like this is such a cliche, but I’m determined to make this year count.
After such a weird, uncertain year, I’m turning my attention back to me and the things that help me be the best version of myself.
I moved to a new apartment, got promoted, and now I’m ready to tackle the one area of my life that always falls to the bottom of my priority list — my health.
My diet can be described as average at best. I have weeks where I eat super healthy, and others where all I wanna do is eat takeout and junk food. But I guess that’s normal, right?
Now that the warmer months are coming and regular life is peaking on the horizon, I want to make some real changes to my approach to food and dieting. While I could definitely do with shedding some of those stubborn pounds around my tummy before bikini season, mostly I just want to feel better, have more energy, and improve my health overall.
A couple of my friends swear by fasting, but I’ve always been way too intimidated to try it. I know that getting your body into a fasting state has so many amazing health benefits, but I need something a little more structured if I want to stay on track.
After searching online, I came across ProLon’s Fasting Mimicking Diet® (FMD). I’m not one to pay attention to diet programs, but this one felt different from the moment I started reading.
FMD is a 5-day dietary program clinically-tested at the University of Southern California that staves off hunger, protects lean body mass when used in multiple consecutive cycles, and trims the waistline. A fast with food. That certainly caught my attention, but how could a fast that included food actually work?
I kept reading and discovered that ProLon’s benefits are not just weight loss, but also enhanced mental clarity, focus, energy, and cellular renewal. By reducing cravings and improving portion control, FMD also fosters a positive relationship with food. This sounded like exactly the solution I’ve been looking for.
There’s zero meal prep involved, they send you everything you need, which really appeals to me. As I’m a first-time faster, I thought I’d try doing one 5-day program. And if it works for me, maybe I’d sign up for the ProLon Enhanced subscription and give the 3-month plan a go.
The next week my package arrived, and I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw how everything was separated out for each individual day. Anyone that knows me knows that I need a clear plan if I’m going to stick to something, so I loved that ProLontook care of everything for me.
The 5-day kit contains 5 small boxes (one for each day) each containing plant-based energy bars, soups, a variety of snacks, drinks, and supplements. Everything has been carefully designed to nourish and support metabolic and overall health.
Here’s a breakdown of how the plan works with your body
Day 1 – The body transforms to fasting and fat-burning state
Day 2 – Fat-burning ramps up and ketogenesis begins
Day 3 – Triggers autophagy (the clean-up of cellular debris), ketogenesis continues
Day 4 – Cellular Rejuvenation, and still more ketogenesis
Day 5 – You guessed it – ketogenesis. And Cellular Renewal which continues beyond Day 5
I’m not going to lie, I was pretty nervous to start. The first day I rolled out of bed a little later than I wanted, but ready to tackle day one. I started my day with emails, peppermint tea, 2 Algal Oil supplements, and an L-Bar Nut Based bar, which was actually super tasty! I was expecting it to be dry and crumbly, but it was soft and chewy.
My day was jammed-packed Zoom calls as usual, so I had lunch a little later than expected. The Tomato soup only took a couple of minutes to prepare, and the Kale Crackers provided some much-needed crunch.
During calls, I snacked on olives, tea, and another L-Bar Nut Based Bar. Nothing about this feels like a starvation diet. Because I am constantly eating and snacking, I never feel deprived.
Dinner was minestrone soup and another delicious bar, this time Choco Crisp. I won’t lie, the first day was definitely an adjustment, but nowhere near as hard as I was expecting it to be. I went to bed that night feeling ready for day 2.
The next 4 days I definitely got into a routine, and honestly, all of the food ProLon provides tasted a lot better than I was expecting. When I looked into it I learned that their meals are designed by a Michelin Star chef.
Today is day 5, and I feel amazing. I’ve lost 4 pounds, I’m far less bloated, and most importantly I feel so much more energetic and focused overall. I was worried my work life might be affected, but I actually had one of the most productive weeks I’ve had in a long time.
It feels like I’ve reset my entire body. And I’m not the only one. Over 95% of those who have used ProLon’s Fasting Mimicking Diet® for the 1st time said they successfully completed the 5-day fast. Over 60% reported that they experienced greater energy, mental clarity, and focus.
I’m planning on signing up for ProLon’s 3-month subscription. Doing this 5-day program once a month is something I want to make a regular part of my routine, and gives me a better chance of keeping the weight I’ve lost at bay. I haven’t felt this good in as long as I can remember!
