I’ve never hopped on the New Year, New Me bandwagon, mainly because I’m well aware that resolutions and I don’t exactly share a long-term relationship. But this year I wanted a change — something to clear the mental cobwebs and kickstart a new chapter.
My chaotic apartment was in dire need of a glow-up. So, I ushered in the year with a touch of 2025 flair – a bit of interior magic. Decluttering chaos, bidding farewell to useless odds and ends, and welcoming in functional yet stylish additions.
It definitely felt like a big task, but day by day and bit by bit my apartment was turning into the minimalist calming environment I had envisioned. I left my bedroom last because one of the goals out of all of this redecorating was to get myself a new bed. It has been on my to-do list for months, but finding exactly what I wanted wasn’t easy.
I’d been looking at beds for ages and none of them fit with the sleek, clean look that I wanted. Plus, I needed something timeless to work with whatever style I decided for my room. And, of course, it had to last a long time because I don’t want to have to do this again any time soon.
I didn’t think I was asking for too much, so I didn’t settle even though the search was tiring. Thankfully I didn’t give up, because I finally found The Bed, By Thuma. It has everything you could ever want from a bed.
First off, I loved how it looks; sleek and sophisticated yet beautifully designed with clean lines, subtle curves, and a simple silhouette. It’s the bed that compliments any and every interior, with the ability to dress it up or dress it down, depending on your style.
The Bed, By Thuma, is built to last a lifetime, made of 100% real, up-cycled rubberwood and stained in different shades — Walnut, Natural, Espresso, or Grey. It has no veneers or MDFs, is Greenguard Gold certified, and only features mindfully selected eco-friendly materials such as eco-fi felt.
Each bed has natural imperfections and unique grains that should be expected with handcrafted, real wood, and celebrated. And The PillowBoard features supportive foam backing for a comfortable, pro-lounge environment. An interchangeable & washable linen-weave cover keeps things fresh. Thuma even offers The Headboard — which can be placed instead of the PillowBoard — made of the same materials as The Bed, it’s the perfect additional support.
Then, when I read reviews confirming it was the easiest bed to assemble (it only takes around 5 minutes), I hit the add to cart button. Before I knew it the Thuma boxes were at my door.
I took everything out of the box and was surprised there were only 11 pieces. I loved that all the cardboard was recyclable and there was absolutely no Styrofoam. After reading the instructions I started putting it all together, and thankfully, because of the wonder that is Japanese Joinery, every piece slotted into each other effortlessly. Just 10 minutes later I was standing in awe of my perfectly built, freshly made new bed.
It looked amazing and felt even better. With no creeks, squeaks, or unsettling noises, it’s the sturdiest bed I’ve ever slept on. It was the final piece that I needed to complete my New Year’s apartment revamp.
Now my apartment is refreshed and so is my head — they’re both very zen! It’s so true that a peaceful environment leads to a calmer mind. I achieved not only home-care, but self-care, too, and I feel like I’m already smashing 2024.
And I must say, The Bed is my favorite part of my whole apartment. Thank you, Thuma! If you’re looking to create a minimalist clutter-free environment, or you’re looking in the market for a new bed, I’d highly recommend Thuma.
