I never thought I’d try a meal kit. Sure, getting food delivered to your doorstep seemed great, but I figured I’d get bored of weeks after weeks of burgers and chicken.
Then, just for fun, I decided to calculate how much I’d spent on takeout and food that I left in the fridge until it spoiled over the last month — I wanted to go to the nearest field and scream. This had to stop since I wasn’t even fueling my body with anything nutritious.
I felt defeated, but then I talked to a co-worker who loves her meal kit. Said it was her absolute favorite way to eat during the week — Green Chef. Sure, I’d seen the ads around but didn’t know too much about it.
Maybe not all meal kits are created equal?
Green Chef’s deal is that they deliver ingredients for premium, balanced meals right to your doorstep which was precisely what I was looking for. They’re a certified organic company that offers 24 different options per week.
The recipes seemed easy-to-follow and ideal for lunch and dinners — nutritious and balanced with new, international-inspired flavors. They cater to all kinds of dietary preferences and with their new plan to Mix-and-Match options from different preferences, you’re not locked into one set type of meal plan.
The meals were nicer-looking than I expected. And for only $12.99 per meal, it would save me in the long run for sure, plus I had a sign-up discount — scroll down! I decided to take a risk and cancel if I wasn’t a fan.
For my first week, I went with the vegan Chickpea & Red Pepper Bulgur Bowls With Kale, Tomato, Olives, Lemon, Red Pepper Hummus, And Schug Sauce, the keto & paleo Sesame-Ginger Shrimp Bowls with Fried Eggs, Zucchini, Spicy Ginger-Lime Aioli, and Sesame Seeds, and the 20-minute Spicy Beef & Broccoli Noodle Bowls with Sesame Seeds and Roasted Red Peppers.
When my box arrived, I inspected every vegetable and packet and was truly impressed by the quality of the produce. Talk about fresh! Plus, everything came with easy step-by-step instructions and photos, so if I’m trying something tricky in the kitchen, there’s clear guidance.
I started with the Sesame-Ginger Shrimp. I was nervous about cooking seafood, but it was super simple. I just followed the directions, and boom — Sesame-Ginger Shrimp. I plated it almost like the photo and dug in — wow! So much more delicious than I was expecting. Green Chef has a generous-sized portion — I had lunch ready for the next day. Bonus: This will cut down on frequent afternoon deli runs.
I’m amazed at how convenient Green Chef makes everything — each meal only takes about 30 minutes or less. And totally beats waiting for Doordash.
After three weeks with Green Chef I’m in control of my meals again, and my life.
When I check my fridge this month, I’m confident it won’t disappoint me. Green Chef is now my favorite way to eat, helping me take steps to better achieve a healthy lifestyle using organic ingredients.
