Over the past few years, having a reusable water bottle is just as important as having a phone. There’s the devout cult of Stanley tumbler users, who flock to Target at 3 AM for the latest colorway…or, of course, the Owala crew who prefer a built-in straw and color-blocked design.

Of course, there are a million reusable water bottle brands that everyone loves…but I’ve noticed it’s now essential. If you’re still using a plastic water bottle, people look at you funny. And don’t even think about drinking water from a glass unless you’re in a restaurant.

In fact, people are literally decorating their Stanley tumblers with keychains. They have snack holders that sit on top of the lid. You can fit anything you want on your Stanley — all you gotta do is try.

Your insulated water bottle is now a fashion accessory. I see TikToks of girls taking their Stanley’ on walks with them in lieu of purses. Yes, that means their keys, sunscreen, sunglasses — and more, use your imagination! — are strapped to the bottle.

People are simply obsessed with their water bottles…and different types of people carry different water bottles. There’s never been a sensation quite like it…and especially one that’s so healthy for people.

The options are endless: Yeti, Stanley, Owala, Swell, Hydro Flask, even brands like Simple Modern offer insulated bottles. But your choice does say a lot about you.

No hate to the Stanley users…but this is the most fundamental water bottle choice. You’ve seen the constant flow of social media users boasting about their Stanley and you couldn’t resist.

And let’s be fully honest here: you wanted to decorate your Stanley. You yearned to buy one of those snack trays and lay in bed with your combo. Hell, you can even keep food in your Stanley if you’re feeling inventive.

This one’s for me. Time for a personal roast. I didn’t want to be like everyone else, I wanted to march to the beat of my own drum, follow my bliss — or whatever. So I got an Owala, like my roommates.

So we imagined we’re taking the road less traveled, but in reality we’re not. We wanted to take the “not like the other girls approach.” And I’m sure you did, too.

The bright colors and built-in straw design hooked me, but honestly, I’ll use any reusable water bottle. These are merely trendy, but not as in-the-know as the Stanley. So, you thought you were being original…but you weren’t at all.

The Yeti obsession is so yesterday. Long gone are the days where college frat bros would pine after Yeti coolers and tote around their Yeti tumbler. Since there are so many other brands on the market, the Yeti has fallen into the more manlier water bottle option.

I confess. I’ve had many a Hydro Flask water bottle in my day, so this is sincerely no hate to them. But let’s be honest, how many people these days are opting for this one? It’s all about Stanley.

What I love about Simple Modern is they’re accessible and cute. I almost bought one a few times when I was on the hunt for a solid water bottle…and if your desired colorway isn’t available in one brand, chances are Simple Modern has it in stock.

If you use Simple Modern, you don’t necessarily care about name-brand items. You like the vibe and aesthetic, but you’re okay with cutting a deal. All you need is your water to be cold, and a pretty bottle is just a plus.
